Poems of Love

Remnant

I balance
at the edge of my world
Thought circling
in wider orbits
ever further from truth
ever inward to fantasy
The hope of love
with each spin falls
and I lose you in my despair

Words
rise and return
to more protected hearts
For words are nothing
We are as close as birth and death
and yet as far
The memory of our love
lies deep within me
and I fear for its innocence

Flower

Like a flower
the colour of love fades
fragrance dilutes with each day passing
Passion blind to the season's rhyme
What is left when the bloom has gone
After the petals fall to earth
Broken buds drift across the sky
and love has nowhere to be

My heart grows cold as the stems grow bare
and aches for beauty once again
As the colours fall to earth
I lie and wait for love's rebirth

Spent petals on barren ground
A flower
once bursting forth in ecstasy
by the season is betrayed
As is passion
by love

which lifted like a seed on the wind
is forever waiting to be borne again
